I first met Professor David Gartry in October 2019. I was referred by my optician because I was in need of specialist cataract surgery. I was severely myopic, with significant astigmatism, and had fragile retinas, so my optician advised I be treated by an expert surgeon.
David Gartry initially referred me to a retinal specialist, Mr Mahi Muqit, who performed laser surgery to repair retinal tears in my right eye. Then, in February 2020 David Gartry was able to undertake cataract surgery on this eye and inserted a special toric lens. Subsequently I had cataract surgery on my left eye – in August 2020 (delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.)
My consultations were at the Wimpole Eye clinic. David has a wonderfully relaxed and welcoming manner which put me at ease straight away. His explanation about the cataract procedure and recovery after, were clear and detailed. My questions were likewise answered with kindness, patience and understanding.
I was especially apprehensive before the first operation, but was amazed at how comfortable I felt, both during and after the procedure. Every care was taken for my wellbeing, and the follow-up meetings with David Gartry further instilled confidence in my recovery.
After a lifetime of dependence on contact lenses and glasses, I now have excellent vision. The resulting difference is, quite frankly, amazing and life changing! I am so grateful for the wonderful skill of Professor Gartry and the team who supported him at Moorfields. I offer him my sincere thanks and have no hesitation in highly recommending this excellent eye surgeon.
