I was very short-sighted – minus 12 in my left eye and, having turned 50, needing help for close-up work too. I am quite squeamish but the operation itself was only mildly uncomfortable. After the surgery, I now have “better than 20:20 vision” – RAF standard for distance. Although I do now need reading glasses, the procedure has made a huge difference to the quality of my life.
