Dear Professor Gartry

I can’t thank you enough for my recent femtosecond laser-assisted cataract  procedures, which were completely painless.  I felt relaxed and knew I was in safe hands.
I am very pleased with my new multifocal toric lenses.  I can now see very clearly for both distance & reading after years of poor sight.  It has been truely life changing.
I would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone considering this procedure.

Kind regards,
J P

Professor Gartry was recommended by my friend, who also underwent very successful cataract surgery by him. As my cataract was on my main eye, the other being a lazy eye, I was super cautious to ensure the best treatment. I’m pleased to report it exceed my expectations, almost 20/20 vision, no more astigmatism (the bespoke toric lens is brilliant), that’s after over 60 years of wearing glasses, now much clearer and sharper vision. The whole process went very smoothly, the clinic team is efficient, helpful and friendly. Professor Gartry is not only an expert in his field, also superb at listening, reassuring and surprisingly gentle especially on the day of my surgery. Thank you.

My eyesight has been poor since the age of ten, and I have always needed strong varifocal contact lenses or glasses. Now, in my sixties, after David Gartry’s surgery, I have 20:20 vision. My eyesight has never been better. I have no need of glasses. My husband jokes that I have bionic eyes now. The world has come alive in sharp colours.

What took me to Wimpole eye clinic was an aggressive cataract in both eyes which led to a rapid loss of vision. I was seen really quickly, and the operation (each eye was a week apart) arranged swiftly. The whole team was brilliant. The preparation and follow-up were fantastic. I wanted for nothing. I was an anxious patient but Professor Gartry and the nurses were really understanding and put me at ease. This is a world-class clinic offering the latest cutting edge treatment but care for the patient is at the heart of what they do, and I feel enormously privileged and grateful to have been treated by them. Life really does look different now.

Absolutely wonderful service from the team and an extremely professional approach. I highly recommend Professor David Gartry for lens replacement surgery. I had both my eyes treated and despite my initial trepidation the outcome was amazing. It is almost unbelievable that my eyesight has been fully restored to its former glory. Thank you to you all at Wimpole Eye Clinic.

I first met Professor Gartry in 2007 to have- laser surgery for my life long shortsight and ended up with perfect vision for many years. The procedure had been painless and without any side effects so that, when , with age , cataracts developed I did not hesitate to return to Professor Gartry and his team at Moorfields Hospital. I’ve now got my perfect sight back again and would certainly recommend Professor Gartry and his team for the whole procedure and the care and attention I received throughout.

Professor Gartry is very professional, courteous, personable and calming.

I had cataract surgery in both eyes and I am delighted with the result. My vision is excellent and I no longer have to wear glasses.

I highly recommend Professor Gartry and Moorfield eye hospital.

The whole experience from beginning to end was superb with a superb result so if you are reading this I urge you to look no further than Professor David Gartry as your eye surgeon. You will see from many articles on the internet that he is world renowned and a supremely experienced eye surgeon. He is also a lovely laid back person.

I had cataracts so as they had to be removed and as I am a sailor, Mr. Gartry recommended multifocal lenses. The procedure at Moorfields consisted of a laser to soften the cataract ( very 60’s psychadelic and the green one was especially beuatiful! ) followed by sedation before the 20 minute operation which seemed like 7 – 10 minutes. At no point was it painful, the local anaesthetic was only slightly uncomfortable and the ‘worst’ part as the anaesthetist told me it would be, but even that was really not a problem. The staff were all superb and after having the first one done I was looking forward to returning to Moorfields the following week for the 2nd eye. Can I have my third eye done too now?? Would have no problem going back and its far easier than the dentist. The results are unbelievable with distance and close up being really clear – the only problem is I can now see every bit of dirt in my house and how old I really look !! The yellow haze has now gone and I can drive really easily at night time in the rain with no more ‘splaying’ from headlights. I had no problems following either procedure and really can’t believe now just how bad my eyes had got.

Last Saturday, a month after the second eye, I spent 8 hours on a RHIB on the Thames as it was BSAC’s 70th Anniversary and along with 20 other RHIBS we delivered a cheque to the RNLI. I could clearly see every building and person along the length of the Thames from Erith to Embankment, going from Industrial to Historical and the Present. Amazing – no glasses, no contact lenses. Thank you so much to all involved. I have found a new freedom and feel really lucky to be living now so I could benefit from this wonderful technology.

I cannot fault the care , attention & service that I have received from The Wimpole Eye Clinic & Professor David Gartry .

My experience of diagnosis & subsequent lens replacement in both eyes , due to cataracts , has been life transforming .

It was so important to receive all the personal attention , & written explanations of my conditions & exactly what would happen at every stage . This  gives great confidence & peace of mind to  the patient!

I found every member of the Wimpole Eye clinic team to be very well informed, exemplary in the role they played .

At every stage I was given information , I was treated very kindly , but also the professionalism was very noticeable.

Professor Gartry himself seems to allow time for every patient to spend the right amount of time with him personally  too. A very skilled team & I would recommend  them to any of my contemporaries!
