Dr Gartry did my Lasik surgery, I was -4 and now my vision is 20/20. I am very grateful for his help especially now that I can do any activity without worrying if my glasses will fall, and I generally feel more confident going out without glasses.

I had Lasek laser eye surgery in July this year for short-sightedness (-7). Professor Gartry and team were absolutely superb from first consultation through to surgery, recovery and final sign-off. Every detail very thoroughly covered, every question answered and the team there to support and advise at every stage. I had been very wary of getting my eyes “done” for many years. Prof Gartry and team came highly recommended by a friend, so I finally decided to go for it and am so glad that I did – life-changing!!

Having had minus 10 shortsightedness in both eyes I was warned that the best I could realistically hope for from bilateral Lasek was to end up around minus 1 – 2. After 3 months, however, I’m thrilled to now be evaluated as having 20/20 vision, an improvement far exceeding expectations! I highly recommend Dr Gartry.

Extremely professional and reassuring at all steps of the process. I had a perfect outcome and I’m really happy I got the bilateral IntraLASIK surgery done. Wish I had done it earlier.

I couldn’t be happier with the outcome of my left eye IntraLASIK treatment with Professor Gartry. I only wish I had done it sooner! His expertise and care made the whole experience exceptional.

It’s roughly been a year since my LASEK surgery so now I feel is the best time to leave a review!

I was recommended by a work colleague to have my laser eye surgery done with David Gartry, as they previously had a great experience. I remember my initial consultation everything was very thorough and David was very kind and knowledgeable. He explained all my options and wasn’t pushy in any way to get the surgery. As someone who could not handle eye contacts, laser eye surgery was my only option if I no longer wanted glasses (-4 in both eyes).

I will not sugar coat it – laser eye surgery is a scary procedure – but the nursing staff at Moorfields were amazing at keeping me calm before going into the operating room. I was also given some medication to help relax me. The procedure was very quick and instantly (after my eyes adjusted) saw the results. My recovery period was fairly standard for LASEK (first three days being the hardest) – but I could contact the team at any time if I had any concerns and meet with David before the follow up appointment if needed. They were really accommodating for me (especially for the contact lens bandage removal!) and an overall top medical procedure experience.

My vision went from strength to strength following the operation. I did have some starbursting at night – but a year on from the surgery and they are very minimal now. I don’t need glasses now and I can wear whatever sunglasses I want! It’s hard to achieve 20/20 with laser eye surgery, but my outcome is incredibly close considering I was -4. I am so so thankful, you have changed my life <3

I will be recommending David to anyone who considers laser eye surgery from now on!

In about 2002, Professor Gartry performed LASIK surgery, improving my eyesight from -12 to 20/20. Over the years, my prescription deteriorated with age, and a few months ago (at about -4), I decided to follow my husband’s lead and go for refractive lens exchange. I had no intention at all of entrusting my eyes to anyone other than Prof Gartry, so visited the clinic (professional, warm, friendly) and got myself booked in for surgery. My eyes were done a week apart, and the whole team were superb. Two months on, I’ve just had my final check up and been told that my lifelong astigmatism has been eliminated, as well as my sight hovering around the 20/20 mark. As in 2003, ‘delighted’ would be an understatement- Prof Gartry’s work truly is life changing.

I had LASEK with Prof. Gartry back in January 2017 for my wedding. I was one of the small percentage of people not to achieve near perfect vision so had a complimentary top up. Now, 7.5 years later my prescription is 0 and -0.25 which im thrilled with. It is SO liberating to not need glasses. All those little things like reaching for your glasses in the night to pop to the bathroom or falling asleep in your contacts or glasses and loosing them in the bed. Gone. I’d recommend it to anyone suitable. It’s very straightforward, a quick and painless procedure. You don’t know prof Gartry is even performing the procedure there’s no burning or pain, just a noise.

You’re in excellent hands with Prof Gartry. If you can, do it. Be liberated. It’s a wonderful feeling.
