For over two years I had a very severe, recurring pain in my left eye due to an erosion on the surface. I saw several doctors and went to the emergency room twice with very severe pain and swelling. The pain would occur most often at night, but the effect would last thoughout the day, affecting my daily routine at home and at work. The pain would be so severe that I would also get recurring headaches and my vision would be blurred. Many doctors advised that the erosion would heal with lubricating drops but after two years of pain, I decided to undergo PTK laser with Dr. Gartry. The laser was a quick procedure and after about a week of taking care of my eye with the prescribed medication I felt much better. Since my procedure (three months ago) I have not had any pain in my left eye and I have not once had pain at night. From time to time I use lubricating drops but overall, my eye feels completely normal with no discomfort. The treatment has solved my problem and I finally feel that I have gone back to a normal life. I am very very happy with the results.
Professor Gartry is very friendly and approachable, was happy to answer all my many questions during my consultation and I did not feel rushed at all. He really put me at ease and gave me confidence about the procedure. The actual procedure was not as uncomfortable as I was expecting and the recovery time very quick. I have experienced mild dry eyes since the procedure but this seems to be settling now and is not a concern. A very positive experience and I now wish I’d had the treatment years ago.

Everything is extremely professionally and courteously done. I had the other eye done 5 years ago by Professor Gantry and was surprised and impressed with how streamlined, trouble free and nontraumatic everything was. I had laser surgery for short sight with prof Gartry in 2005 which was very successful. I turned to Prof Gartry again in 2020 after I had developed cataracts. The cataract surgery has been brilliant. I went for the multi-focal lenses which have given me great all round vision. I can read the smallest print, watch television, scan the far horizon, all without glasses. It has really given me a new lease of life.
