Prof. Gartry and his team at the Wimpole Eye Clinic made me feel very calm and safe. David talked me through the procedure as it happened so I was not surprised by any new sensations. The aftercare was made clear and easy to follow. I could not be happier with the outcome.
I am immensely pleased with the results. I have been wearing contact lenses since my early 20s and have been wanting laser surgery for a number of years but was worried about the procedure. I needn’t have been. Professor David Gartry was reassuring throughout and gave me a good indication of how my eyesight would be following surgery. In fact, the end result was better. I am in my 40s now and another clinic had advised that the surgery would likely mean I would need reading glasses straight away. With Professor Gartry’s help, this hasn’t been the case. I accept I will need reading glasses in the next few years but it is amazing to be glasses and contact lenses free once again. I would absolutely recommend Professor Gartry and his team at the Wimpole Eye Clinic
Professor Gartry and his teams at the Wimpole Eye Clinic and Moorfields were wonderful. The improvement in my vision is quite marked, especially as regards reading. The information given beforehand by both Prof. Garty and Moorfields was excellent as 99.% of those undergoing surgery would have had all the information they required. My only comment is that this was written for people with two functioning eyes, and I only have one. A separate information sheet, pointing out that one would be utterly blind post-surgery until the next morning, would have been appreciated in order to ensure that I had help at home. I was lucky as my procedure was not done till the evening, also I only had to get home and get to bed and take off the pad in the morning. This was lucky as I had been offered a choice of time and nearly elected for a morning appointment. This would have meant that I was blind, and needed help for minimally half a day instead of the 2 hours in which I experienced what sightlessness was like. In retrospect, I am glad that I did experience this.
Much less painful than I had anticipated and excellent recovery within 24 hours. Felt comfortable in the professional hospital environment. I would highly recommend the procedure from start to finish.
I am thoroughly happy with the result of my Lasik surgery. I can see better than I ever could before, and I’m glad I chose Dr Gartry to perform the surgery.
