This was probably the best decision I’ve ever made, the process was really smooth, everyone was very capable and friendly, and I’ve ended up with 0 prescription so am delighted! I would recommend to anyone who wants their sight back.

My vision before surgery was -6. I’d worn specs since I was 8 and contacts since I was a teenager. Having laser eye surgery was a huge decision – not only financially, but my eyes are the most precious thing I have and I was nervous. Professor Gartry and his team were fantastic from start to finish. They answered all of my questions (some sillier than others) with expert knowledge and advice and with patience and care. I felt so well looked after: everything was explained clearly to me in terms I understood, the staff were accommodating of my needs, they were flexible in making appointments that suited me and the after care and support has been brilliant.

The surgery itself was a bizarre experience – it’s foreign to have someone playing with your eyes but I felt no pain and the procedure for both eyes lasted less than 5 minutes. David talked me through everything that was happening and I felt at ease and comfortable. The idea of the surgery is infinitely worse than actually doing it – it was so easy. My boyfriend barely had time to get a cup of coffee before we were on our way home. The only thing I’d change is having had the surgery earlier. It has been life-changing, and I don’t use that term lightly. Being able to see unaided is a liberating experience and I couldn’t recommend David Gartry and his team more highly. I now have better than 20/20 vision!
