Victoria at her 48 hour check up – She describes her laser eye surgery with David Gartry
I would like to thank David and his team for providing an excellent service. I have been very happy with the results of my lasek surgery and after all the hesitation I am extremely pleased I made the decision to have it done by Dr Gartry. I have and will continue to recommend Mr Gartry to friends & family. Thank you!
Professor Gartry and his team did everything possible to make the process as efficient and unobtrusive as possible.
I was very short-sighted – minus 12 in my left eye and, having turned 50, needing help for close-up work too. I am quite squeamish but the operation itself was only mildly uncomfortable. After the surgery, I now have “better than 20:20 vision” – RAF standard for distance. Although I do now need reading glasses, the procedure has made a huge difference to the quality of my life.
I had long sight plus short sight and astigmatism all quite tricky and since wearing glasses as a child and contact lenses as a teen it wasn’t until my prime of life that I took the plunge. I now have 20:20 vision and each new day brings a wonderful new dawn. The world is diamond bright and my brain has to manage two great eyes! Those eyes will be with me for the rest of my life and as for the cost well a small car that would depreciate versus the pricelessness of having a clear window on the world. How blessed to have access to world class specialists and MoorFields. I had evening surgery and was back at work the next day and the liberation of no contact lenses or glasses.
Having previously had only a minus 1.25 prescription I was unsure whether or not to have the surgery. However I could not be more pleased with the results. I would certainly recommend this for anyone thinking about it.
There has been a lot of discussion in the media recently about a surgical procedure developed by Dr Gregg Homer at the Strōma Medical Corportion in California that promises to turn any eye colour to blue. This type of laser eye surgery is very different from the refractive surgery performed at our clinic.
Using a laser to remove the pigment of the eye could potentially disrupt the drainage channels of the eye, increasing pressure and therefore leading to glaucoma.
It is important to note that laser eye surgery to correct sight is performed on the cornea, the surface of the eye. With The Strōma procedure the laser moves below the surface of the eye to disrupt the cells on the iris.
For information on our laser eye surgery procedure to correct vision please visit this section on our website.
Apart from the possibility of potentially sight-threatening glaucoma, potential patients (customers) should be aware that, to the best of our knowledge, none of the usual scientific studies and clinical trials have been performed to establish safety and efficacy.
A smooth, reassuring and professional service from start to finish that resulted in better than 20-20 vision. Having discussed with colleagues who had also had laser surgery, it became very apparent that I had made the right choice.
I have 20/20 vision, what more could I ask for.
Fantastic service and wonderful results. Thank you.
