David Gartry was invited to give a talk at the prestigious Russian Fyodorov Eye Institute in Moscow, Russia. Svyatoslav Fyodorov was a Russian ophthalmologist often considered to be the father of refractive surgery. He has a huge legacy in eye surgery having developed procedures to correct short sight (myopia) as well as being instrumental in developing the surgical technique to remove cataracts.
